Accessory soleus muscle

Pain and swelling postero medial aspect left ankle MRI demonstrates evidence of unilateral accessory soleus muscle on the left This was symptomatic with localized signal changes in medial aspect of muscle and surrounding inflammatory changes Findings were surgically confirmed          


A typical mid portion tear of the anterior talo-fibular ligament. The rest of the ligaments surrounding the ankle joint are normal.

Tarsal coalition

This is an unusual Talo-calcaneal coalition. It involves the posterior facet of the subtalar joint rather than the more common involvement of the medial facet. The coalition appears fibrous, and demonstrates degenerative change. A sagittally orientated fracture of the talus is present.
